Sweet Little Bear

It's been a quiet week craft wise. Work has been really aggravating and stressful and it's just been kicking my butt this week, so by the time I get home I don't have a thought left in me and I am so tired. I did manage to make this card though. My co-workers daughter is having a baby in November and their nursery is going to be lavender and green so I thought ooh I want to make a card with those colors and I came home and made this card. The bear stamp I had for a very long long time. I was in ACMoore last weekend and they had the cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder. I have been searching forever for this folder and I finally got it!!!
I also want to wish my good friend Dawn a Happy Birthday, today is her birthday. She is an amazing person. If you have a second go over to her blog and wish her a happy birthday.

Sunday Scrappin # 38

I still can't believe the month of July is almost of over. Where has this summer gone? The days are just flying by. It's about 5 months to Christmas. WOW!!

Well it's Sunday once again, so that could only mean one thing Sunday Scrappin time. Last week's challenge was to mail something to someone who wasn't expecting it. I am very good at making things putting them in the envelope and addressing the envelope but then it sits here and sits here and sits here. I'm not good at mailing things. I mailed my Uncle a card I never mail him a card so that will be a huge surprise. I had a package here to mail to a friend a month later she will finally receive it (she probably forgot about it it's been so long) and then I mailed another surprise to a special someone.

I have to have to work on my nieces birthday card - I plan to start that today I do have an idea
Continue to participate in various blog challenges

This week's Sunday Scrappin challenge is play in the grass! Scrap photos of someone playing in the yard... use grassy paper... make a card involving something in your yard (a BBQ?).... make a green fringed border that looks like grass... you get the idea. Have fun with it! This will be an easy challenge I have tons of pictures of my sister in the grass when she was little, buddy in the grass, our niece and nephew in the yard. The options are endless. Lets just hope I have enough ink in my printer to print the pictures (I should - big smile).

Love your Style Card & Award

I made this card for a this weeks Taylored Expressions Sketch challenge. The stamp set is SU Haute Couture (2005 hostess stamp set). I pop dotted the dress to give it some dimension. The bling on the side is from Michaels $1 bin (Darcie Finishing Accents) I like them because they are self adhesive. The inside of the card I stamped You're just my Style (part of the same Haute Couture stamp set). Being the card base is black I put a Mat on the left hand side of the card to write a little message to the card recipient.
What a huge huge honor I received this award from Mel Stampz. She is truely an amazing crafter. I love her blog. She is truely a huge inspiration to me. Every time I view her blog I am always in awww and am completely Wowed!
I have to pass this on 3 other bloggers. There are tons of blogs that I view on a daily basis that blow me away so it makes it hard to choice just 3.

My Creative Corner
I spent more time picking out the 3 people then I did making the above card and posting this. There are a lot of amazing crafters and bloggers out there!!

Please be patient

I am trying to get a new look to my blog, not really sure yet what template (background) I am going to use. Over the next few days the template may change. I will add my sidebar's back (blinkies, groups, favorite blogs etc.). If I do make a drastic change and you do not like it, LOL please do tell me. LOL!

Thanks for your patience and continue support. I appreciate everyone's comments.

Appreciate your Friendship

My good friend is going through a rough patch in her life right now and she needs some encourage meant so I came home and made her a card. The flower is from Hedi Swapp clear stamp set, the saying is from SU Friendship blooms stamp set (retired). I ran the one piece of cardstock through the cuttlebug, love the look of embossing done on the cuttlebug. I hope she likes the card and it helps to lift her spirits some.
I cased this card idea from someone online I can not find the blog I printed it out and put it in my book of ideas but did not save the web address. Sorry. The card I cased was black and white.

Pupp Love Card & Awards

I made this card for the Iheart2stamp sketch challenge. I love the sketch. I had this stamp for awhile and this is the first time he's seen ink, he is such a cute dog. The paw print is a sticker. I chalked around the outer part of the image to bring out the red a little more.

My friend forgetfulone made my day today by giving me these cute awards. It is always so touching to receive these awards. I know I'm a dork, but I really mean it.

Have A Tigger-ific Birthday

My little pal Hunter is celebrating his 6th birthday next month so I wanted to make him a card. I used the Pooh & Friends Cricut Cartridge to make Tigger, Hunter loves Tigger. The balloons are SU (retired) Birthday Whimsy stamp and the pattern paper is from DCWV Everyday paper packet. On the inside I printed the saying on my computer using a free Tigger font that I downloaded awhile back (sorry don't recall which site but if you need it let me know I'll go searching through my favorites for it). I pop dotted the balloons to give the card some dimension. I didn't want to go to crazy on pop dotting because I do have to mail it.

Sunday Scrappin #37

Where is the time going, this summer is buzzin right on by. It's hard to believe July is almost over. Well this week I didn't get much done craft wise, it was hot and I was just feeling lazy. If you haven't already you need to check out the Sunday Scrappin group, it's a fantastic group of creative people. I have made some wonderful friendships through there. I love that each week Amy gives us a different challenge.

Pictured below is the strawberry box for this weeks Sunday Scrappin challenge (make something fruity). For the "seeds" I used a white gel pen. It can hold a small trinket (jewelry, candy, etc). I have the pattern saved to my computer I think I found it on SCS (don't really recall though). If you would like the pattern you can leave me a message here or email me (email link on the side).

Make a birthday card for a 6 year old boy

Maybe do a scrapbook page

This week's Sunday Scrappin Challenge is to create something and mail it as a RAOK. A simple "thinking of you" note counts... and it doesn't have to be sent to a stranger, but it needs to be someone who wouldn't be expecting to hear from you. :) I thought this would be a fun one. You could make a postcard (stamped? collaged?), a card, a small gift... anything you want, but the challenge part is to get your project done and mailed to an unsuspecting recipient. And, if you can't think of anyone to send a little cheer to, you can always contact your local nursing home, Any Soldier. com, or your local church, any of which could give you the name of someone who would appreciate some happy mail. Have fun! This is perfect I have 2 cards done and they just have to be mailed to the recipients. I'm great at making but stink at mailing. The one card has been sitting here addressed ready to go since the 4th of July maybe this will be the boost to get the 2 cards (for 2 different people) mailed.

Coaster Photo Frame

The last few days I've been feeling blah, I think it's cause of the heat. Today I felt very sleepy and lazy (guess that's why they call it lazy summer days) so I took a nap then woke up and got busy crafting. I hate when the weekend is over and I feel like I got nothing accomplished (heck I hate when the weekend is over regardless if I get anything accomplished or not).

I am loving the Summer Fun Stamp set from All That Scraps. I used coasters that I bought at the dollar store (they come 6 in a package). They are not that thick neither, perfect to make a coaster photo frame.

I think I'm going to take this to work with me Monday to put on my desk.
I'm putting the finally touches on my Sunday Scrappin Challenge, I'll post that tomorrow. It's nothing big just something small and quick I made for the challenge.

My First Gel (water) card

When I saw the new release stamps at All That Scraps I instantly got this card idea. I knew I had to do a gel (water) card using these stamps. Then today I saw the OCC challenge this week is dry embossing I figured today was the perfect time to finally make my card even though I'm feeling blah.

I ran the bag that holds the gel through the cuttlebug machine using the tiny bubbles embossing folder to give it that under water feel more (the bags were also purchased through All That Scraps). It was hard to photo because of the glare.
The tutorial on how to make a Gel Water Card can be found at SCS (click to go to tutorial)

Birthday Wishes from the Garden

This weeks challenge at SBS18 Challenge Blog is How Does Your Garden Grow? Go ahead, pull out your favorite gardening or floral stamps, but there is ONE LIMIT, NO obvious flowers/plants/herbs etc on your patterned papers!

I just love the from the Garden SU stamp (retired hostess stamp). There are so many fabulous colors to color the flower in, the options are endless. I put stickles in the center of the flower, I wasn't going to at first but I couldn't resist. LOL!

Thanks for looking. It is suppose to be a hot weekend so I am going to stay in my cool craft and play this weekend. I have a few ideas I want to work on, so be on the lookout for those.

Piggy Card

I found this adorable Pig template on Debby's Stampin Heaven Blog. I thought it was adorable so I saved the template and got thinking what can I use that pig for I already did the challenge at Caardvarks (party animal card). I went back to Caardvarks and notice the On the Farm Challenge is going on until July 17, so I'll make another challenge card using the piggy. Half way through making the card I thought of my friend Betty at work, she loves Pigs (her desk is covered in Pigs - No I'm not saying her desk is messy I'm saying she has Pig figurines all over) I can give the card to her!

I chalked the outter part of the pig to give it character, pop dotted the nose to give it a raised look, the eyes are googlie eyes from my stash, the tail was cut using my sizzix (yes I still love my sizzix even though I have the cricut) swirl die, and a pink brad to hold the talk on. On the inside and added another piece of the bottom to cover up the brad.

Sunday Scrappin # 36

Happy Sunday! Yesterday I went to breakfast with a bunch of my girlfriends and then later in the afternoon one of them came over to scrapbook, we are working on a baby girl scrapbooking for our other friend who is going to be a first time grandma. Can you believe my friend was here for 5 hours and we did more chatting then scraping, we got one page almost done (we have to go shopping). I'm so excited to have someone to scrap with!

Onto what this post is really about Sunday Scrappin. I have made a lot of terrific friendships through this group. Come check us out, you'll love it.

I have a card idea I want to work on

Last week's Sunday Scrappin challenge was to do something different (ie. if you are a traditional scraper do a digital page) I didn't take part in the challenge, wasn't sure what to do. I save a lot of the free digital kits from the web but I'm not ready to do a digital page I like the idea of traditional scrapping. This week's challenge is to do something fruity, Fruit stickers, fruit paper, colors inspired by fruit... you name it. Hmmm...I think I can do that!

Have a crafty week!

Never Met a Chocolate I didn't like

Hard to believe I'm allergic to chocolate. I always have been ever since I was little. But as I have gotten older I have learned I do have limits before I do get sick and boy to I push those limits some days. Hey! Whats a girl suppose to do, chocolate is a food group isn't it?!?

Ever Friday at Taylored Expressions blog there is a new sketch challenge, it's called Cupcake Friday (but your creation doesn't have to be anything cupcake related). They have fabulous sketchs each week. This the card I made for this weeks sketch. The ribbon is from Michaels dollar bin, I had it for awhile and it was perfe

ct for this card. The stamp set is SU Oh So Sweet (retired) I actually purchased this set from ebay along time ago.

Baby Girl Onsie Card

I'm not overly thrilled with the way this card turned out. I should have made the scallops around the leg area a little thinner. Over all its not that bad. This is my challenge card for ABC Challenge this week we are on the Letter B for Baby. ABC Challenge is a new challenge group, they are a wonderful group and super friendly, come over and play with us you have a week to complete your project and they over some cool blog candy.
I got the onsie template from SCS if you would like the template please leave a message here or email me. The pattern is for both a girl onsie and a boy onsie (different cut).

Pool Side Fun

You ever get into making a page or card and you finally look at the clock realize its midnight and then all of sudden you get real tired and can't finish the project? That's what happened to me last night, I felt great was printing all the pictures for the page had everything spread out looked at the clock it was after midnight and all of a sudden I got real tired and had to finish the page today.

The title was made using alphabet stickers I got recently at the dollar store, they screamed summer layout to me as I walked by and had to pick up 2 packages. The dolls are Paperkins, I had these since the beginning of time (remember these, you can't find them anymore). The paper is from SU Bold Brights and the pattern paper is (that's right) from the DCWV summer pack.

Bunny Love - PaperTake Challenge

This weeks challenge at PaperTake is a Katharina sketch. This sketch really got me thinking and was a bit of a challenge for me. The "object" going across the middle and at the bottom were really throwing me off. It took me most of the day to do this card (it's not a difficult card but it really had me thinking - hence that's why it's a challenge). While making the card I wasn't really feeling it but now that it's all put together its starting to grow on me. Can you believe after all that I have another card idea using this sketch. LOL!

Card Recipe:

Stamp: House Mouse image from Swap
Paper: SU Soffron, SU Night of Navy, and SU Bravo Burgundy, white cardstock
Other: Ribbon, Cuttlebug embossing folder Heart block, coluzzle circle (for the main image) and cricut george cartridge for the outline circle.

I love the Creek

The challenge on SBS18 is to come up with a card, page or atc that is nice and summery, thinking beach, summer sun and all things sea-sidey!!! We don't typically go to the beach but we do take Buddy (our dog) to the creek. It's nice there not to many people but a few people do go there swimming and it's not that deep. It's a spot where people take their dogs to cool off. I have some other water fun pictures that I have to scrap to hope to get around to those before I go back to work Thursday.

The paper is from DCWV summer pack (you will see lots of this paper pack, I love it). The title was made on the cricut using the George Cartridge. I cut it out in white cardstock then chalked in with SU Stampin Pastels. The journaling reads: Summer's in the past we used to always take Buddy to the creek at the Cairo Town Park. Buddy was never really fond of the water, he would always try to get back to shore. On May 24, 2008 we pulled up to the creek and Buddy was eager to get out of the car. He dragged Jeff right down to the water. Niether one of us were prepared for that. Jeff nor I had on our water shoes so we couldn't go in the water. Buddy is looking forward to spending his hot summer days at the creek".

Gone Fishin

This card is for the Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge this week. The image is from blog candy that I won (isn't he so cute). The DCWV Summer paper pack that I've been patiently waiting for arrived today and when I saw the fish hook paper I knew I had to use these images.

I was going to put the Gone Fishin' image on the outside but it didn't look right so I put it on the inside.

Good Friends

I made this card for the Sketch Challenge at Taylored Expressions. The suzy zoo stamp I had in my stash for awhile and I never made anything with her (that I recall) but I think my sister did or I stamped images for my sister once (memory's going). Originally the card was going to flip open from the top instead of opening from the side but I got talking on the phone with my sister while making the card and wasn't paying attention, but it still worked out. The flowers done the side are chipboard flowers that I received in a kit for christmas a few years ago (yeah I'm being a good girl and using my stash).

Hip Hip Horrary your 2

I joined a new challenge group called Scrap Friendzy they have daily challenges. I like their challenges because they really make you think and you have a month to complete all the challenges. The fun part is for each challenge that you complete you earn points which can earn you some really cool prizes.

One the challenges was to make a birthday card with a number on it. It took me a little while to come up with an idea. I like participating in the challenges but one of my purposes for doing the challenges is so that I get a job start on card making so I have a stash of cards made ahead of time. I came up with the card idea for this challenge but I wasn't sure who I would have a purpose for the card. I contacted my good friend Melanie and she said her daughter will be 2 in a few months and I thought awesome and got to work on the card.

Card Recipe:
Stamp: SU Hip Hip Hooray (retired)
Paper: Pattern paper Nana's Kids Paper Pack
Other: SU Circle punch, SU Scallop punch, the #2 was cut using cricut
George cartridge, stickles

Teenager Birthday Card

It is so hard to believe my little sister is 13. Yesterday I spent the day with her and we had fun. You wouldn't have thought I was 30 and she was 13 we were like two little kids. In her backyard she has a little hill and we took the hose and soaked the grass and she would run down the hill like a slip and slide and as she slid down I would spray her with the hose (kind of like a red neck slip and slide). LOL! We had fun! This weekend Jeff and I are going to take her to a fun park for her birthday treat (batting cage, go karts, mini golf).

Onto the card: I received the cell phone image from a stamper on SCS. The image is part of the Gina K Text Message Stamp set. I was originally going to buy the stamp set to make the card but couldn't bring myself to buy it since I didn't see me using it for anything else. I posted a message for the image on SCS and a kind person sent me the image. I colored it and then covered it with Pink stickles. The pattern paper is from Nana's Kids Paper Packet. She loved the card.
If you get a chance please pop over to Kay's blog (and wish her a happy birthday and tell her I sent you. She will be thrilled.

Happy Sunday! I hope all of my American friends enjoyed their 4th of July. We had a wonderful weekend even though it was low key on the most part. It's Sunday Scrappin time again! This weeks Sunday Scrappin Challenge is to step outside your own box. If you always do traditional scrapping, try digital; if you're a scrapbooker, make a card; whatever it is that you normally wouldn't do, try it. Hmmmm.....I'm not to sure what I am going to do for this. I have loads of free digital scrapbook kits I saved to my computer but I'm not into the digital scrapbooking (love what others do with it but not my thing just yet). I save the kits and then use them in my traditional albums. I'll have to put on my thinking cap for this one.

Party Animal - Double Challenge Card

There is a new challenge blog that has just started it's called ABC Challenge each week they take a letter of the alphabet and pick a theme. This week is the letter A for Animals. Come over and join us.

Secondly, this week's challenge on Caardvarks is barnyard. To make something using a farm theme. This is my first week taking part in their challenges.

I was happy to be able to combine the two challenges into one! I used my (retired) SU Farmyard wheel, I have had it for years but this is the first time ink has hit it. The saying Party Animal is rub-ons from American Traditional Crafts. There are several sayings you can use for this card (Happy Birthday from All of Us, Sorry I pasture birthday are a few that come to mind right now).

Happy Birthday America

Tonight Jeff and I went to the local town park to see the fireworks. I was surprised usually the fireworks attract a large crowd it wasn't really that packed. We had an awesome spot of grass for our seat (couldn't get any better). I'm thrilled with the way the pictures turned out. My other digital camera didn't take great night pictures. But I'm impressed over all. I hope everyone had a happy, fun and safe 4th of July. We will be attending another fireworks display tomorrow. That one is over a a little pond, going to hopefully get there early to get a great spot.

Bear w/Rose

Today will surfing the web I came across a clipart site Art for Crafts they have clipart for free and for sale. They offer the option of the image in color or black and white for you to color in. The bear on this card is from a free download (already colored in) to see if you like the images (you get 7 images already colored in). Once I saw this bear the light bulb went on with a card idea. I printed the bear 2 times the second image I cut out and pop dotted over the other image (I couldn't get a good picture that showed he was pop dotted - sorry). I used the stylized flowers embossing folder and then chalked it with SU Stampin Pastels.
Happy 4Th of July to all my American Friends! Have a safe and happy holiday. We will be seeing the fireworks later on this evening.

Found an awsome Challenge Blog

I recently came across Stamps, Scraps n more challenge blog. They are a great group over there. I have already taken part in 2 of their challenges (Bella challenge and a Patriotic challenge). They also have blog candy. The girls over there are friendly and creative, Kimmy is the hostess over there and she gave me a big warm welcome when I first joined. We are looking for more creative people like yourself to join us, so come on what you waiting for. See you at the Stamps, Scraps n more challenge blog.

4th of July Bear

This week the challenge on Sunday Scrappin and Stamps, Scraps n more is patriotic due to the 4th of July holiday. I normally don't make 4th of July cards but I wanted to take part in the challenges. I wrote a little note on the inside of the card and will send it to my Uncle who does not live locally. The teddy bear is from (retired) SU Favorite Teddy Bear the firecracker in his hand is Debbie Mum stickers that I had in my stash forever. The pattern paper I believe is from ProvoCraft that I also had in stash forever. On the upper piece of cardstock I embossed it using the cuttlebug divine swirl (can you believe I didn't ink the embossing folder, I'm shocked to).

Dylan Page

As most of you are aware our son Dylan was born Oct. 26, 2004 and he passed away Dec. 6, 2004 to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death). It doesn't seem possible nor will we ever understand why, just days before his passing he was in the dr. and got a full checkup and passed with flying colors. He was a preemie but he was healthy and doing so well. Before the water faucet (tears) flood us all let me get on with my page. I have a extremely hard time scrapbooking Dylan, not due to lack of pictures we are overly thankful that we have 1 full picture album of pictures but because the pages are never good enough. My dear friend Melanie recently left me a comment that said "Sweetie the pages you do of Dylan will be perfect because they come from your heart, art is perfect. There is no right or wrong". As I made this page I kept reminding myself of her words, but in the end the page still isn't good enough if that makes since. I look at the pictures of Dylan that we have yes I'm thankful for each and everyone but take the hand picture for example, his hand isn't centered, his one finger is cut off a little I should have took the time to take a better picture instead of thinking "oh I'll get a better one at a later date". I can remember trying to take the picture of his hand, he was sleeping and every time I went to take the picture he would move. LOL! Here is a link to my webshots (preblogging days) account of more Dylan layouts if you want to look http://family.webshots.com/album/274194912NDpowW
Thank you for letting me share our Angel Dylan with you. Chrissy
