Mothers Day Card

On my SisterHood of the Blogging Stampers this months challenge is to make a mothers day card, anything goes. I love the From the Garden flower from SU (contact me to find out how you can get this stamp for free). Normally I like to color in my images but this wasn't is pretty plain. I was surprised at the size of it. I'm hooked on inking the cuttlebug folder, I love it. I did that technique again on this card using the Textile embossing folder. Now that my embossing folders are organized (click to see how I organized them) I will be using them more. I stickled the center of the flower.
Card Recipe:
Stamps: SU from the Garden
INK: SU Orchid Opulence (used on image and embossing folder)
Accessories: Lavender Stickles, SU Ribbon, Textile Cuttlebug embossing folder

New Technique - Cuttlebug Embossed Bday Card

First I want to say that I cased the basic card idea from Virgo5 on SplitCoastStampers (click for her card). On SplitCoast Stampers they had a technique where you ink up the negative part of your cuttlebug embossing folder (that's the side with the cuttlebug logo on it) and I love the look. To check out the full instructions go to Split Coast Stampers . My card looks more colorful in person then in the picture.

Card recipe:

Stamp set: SU Birthday Whimsy (no longer available)
Inks: SU Pixie Pink (on the one balloon ,on the embossing folder, and on the Happy Birthday saying), SU Purely Pomegrantate, the green is from a Color Box Ink wheel (non SU).
Other accessories: balloon ribbons are floss (they matched well), Pattern paper is Sandylion Wide Stripes, Green cardstock non SU, eyelet non SU, Cuttlebug Happy Birthday Embossing Folder, SU Certainly Celery ribbon.

Sunday Scrappin March 30th

Happy Sunday! It has been another fun packed week, well I wouldn't really call it fun. Our whole water system failed us all at once. Everything that has to do with our water died all at one time on the same day. Thankfully my Uncle knew an electrian and we were able to get a steal on his labor cost.

Now on to a happier note its Sunday Scrappin Time!!! Sunday Scrappin is a wonderful group of people who give you the support you need to get those weekly Ta Da's (goals) done. It's great because there is no punishment if you are unable to meet your goals for the week. If you get a chance stop over to Sunday Scrappin we would love to have you join us.

Ta Da's for this week to share:

I completed all of my goals. One of my goals for last week was to finish my scrapbook page of my new little friend playing doctor. When I went to print out the picture it didn't print out correctly because my color ink is low so I ordered new ink from Dell and (fingers crossed) it should be here Monday. But I did do a scrapbook page from our disney trip http://chrissyscreativespot.blogspot.com/2008/03/downtown-disney-market-place.html

I am very pleased with my altered tin that will hold my cuttlebug embossing folders and small dies. I'm loving this system. Next time I get to Joanns I am going to pick up more of these tins I want to make one to hold my cards that I make and possibly my clear stamps. http://chrissyscreativespot.blogspot.com/2008/03/cuttlebug-folderssmall-dies-organizer.html

I made a heffalump card for my sister using the Pooh & Friends Cricut cartridge that I got for Easter from Jeff. I love this cartridge!!! He ordered it on a Friday from Cherished Scraps and Cards and I had it in my hands on Monday (no we didn't pay for rush shipping neither). Granted she's in NJ and I'm in upstate NY but still that is fast figuring you have to allow time for the order to be processed. http://chrissyscreativespot.blogspot.com/2008/03/heffalumps-card.html

For this Week's To Do's

Finish my little friends scrapbook page
Make a card or two (I have a birthday card idea)
Do the challenge on my SBS group which is to make anything for Mother's Day (I have a card idea)

This week's Bonus question is What inspires you to sit down and craft? Throughout the course of the week when card ideas or scrapbook pages come to me I write them down in a notebook and this way when the weekend comes (when I have more time) I can sit down and play and don't have to sit there trying to come up with an idea. I have found now that my supplies are more organized (and still got a ways to go) I make more cards and pages now.

Downtown Disney Market Place

I started this page awhile back and then after getting page one done I realized I didn't have the same color green cardstock to do the other page. I thought it was SU paper but it wasn't. So I undid page one and redid it on SU Green Galore 12x12 paper. I don't recall (sorry) but I think I got this page idea from someone but I don't recall who know (sorry). The pattern paper, brads yellow stripe are from my stash. The scramble letters I received as a RAK. Journaling reads:

Downtown Disney Market Place. Downtown Disney is any shoppers paradise. Jeff and

I took time out of shopping to pose with Buzz Lightyear and Mr. Potato Head statues. It wasn't until the film was developed that I realized I posed backwards with Mr. Potato Head. To this day Jeff claims he didn't notice it neither until the film was developed. I think he got a kick out of me looking silly in front of all those people passing by.

Cuttlebug Folders/Small Dies Organizer

Got this idea from P is for Pink's Blog but I changed it to fit my holder. The outside of the tin is decorated with SU Berry Bliss paper (love the pink & brown combo). The square is cut from SU Chocolate Chip cardstock and the letters are rubons that I had. The flowers and brads are from my stash. The ribbon is also SU. Inside: I used SU tab punch for the tabs. I cut various pieces of cardstock (non su) and then took baseball card sleeves cut them so that they still had their seem and attached it to the cardstock with brads (2 dies or small embossing folders go on the front and 2 on the back). For the large embossing folders I embossed the front of the cardstock and then the folder will go behind the cardstock. I am happy with the way this turned out and I'm glad my embossing folders and small dies will finally be organized. Any questions please leave a comment or email me. Thanks for looking.

Heffalumps Card

For Easter Jeff got me the Pooh & Friends Cricut Cartridge. My sister Kay loves the Heffalumps. She was thrilled when I told her there was a heffalump on the cartridge. I decided to make her a card. Over the next several weeks I will be putting together a list (as I go along) of the corresponding SU colors that match the disney characters on the cricut cartridges. I have another card idea using this cutie.

Card ingrediants:

The base of the heffalump is done in SU Basic Black

The heffalumps body is done in SU Almost Amethyst (this color will also work fore Eeyore I believe)

The Pink for the mouth and ears are from my stash (non SU)

The hair and tail are SU Lavender Lace

The purple background is from my stash (non SU)

The frame is a border that is from a paper packet I received from my Sister for X-mas (Colorbok Punch-out Pack Jewel)

Sunday Scrappin Easter Edition

First I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter. This week was a quiet week for me craft wise on the most part because I was finally getting over my cold I had. But I did work on a few things. I made carrot treat boxes for Easter I filled them with little snack size candies and tootsie rolls and one has a match box car inside. My family loved the carrots, my mother dumped out her candy and will keep hers on display in her china cabinet. I made my sister an altered mailbox of Tinker Bell that she has been begging for.
For my Ta Do's this week I hope to get a lot more accomplished then I have in the past week or two.
finish my scrapbook page of my new little friend playing doctor
make a card or two
alter the lunch pail tin that I have
make the holders for my cuttlebug dies to go in the tin
This week's bonus question: For which holiday do you do the most crafts? (Examples would be great!) I would have to say Christmas. I make cards for every occasion (birthday, Easter, Halloween etc.) but for Christmas I make cards and gifts. This past year I made all handmade gifts no store bought items. I am tired of going to the store and they have the same ole same old. This past year I made name frames, aryalic post it note holder, mini calender, altered paint cans and inside were bath items, coasters, and magnets.
Here are links to the items that I made this past Christmas (click link to view image)
Have a Scrappin week!!

Checking In

I wanted to check in and let everyone know I'm still around. Its been a quiet but busy week. I will be working on Easter cards and projects until the very last minute. I am so out of whack with Easter being early this year and the weather doesn't feel like Spring. Its just been a crazy week. On Sunday I will have my Easter projects to show (I have nosey people who check in just to get a sneak peak LOL). I hope everyone had a great week and have a blessed Easter.

I've been tagged

I've been tagged by Dawn These tags are a great way to get to know each other.

Here goes my 7 facts:

1. I am a banker by profession but I can not save a penny if my life depended on it. I believe in spending every penny me and my husband earn. But I can give you great tips on how to save.

2. I would love to travel to Italy one day but if had the choice between DisneyWorld or Italy I'll probably settle on Disney.

3. I have a lead foot. I have a hard time doing the speed limit. I blame my parents because my dad waiting until the last minute for me to get my license because it ment his little girl was growing up and being I would have to travel the thru way (speed limit 65) I learned to drive on the thru way. So 65 and faster is my speed limit (local town speedlimit 30 highway 55). But I'm a safe driver.

4. I do not know how to swim. My mother was teaching me and I was standing on a rock that was only up to my ankles and I turned around and I slipped off the rock and went in over my head. My mother who is an amazing swimmer saved me from almost drown and she went back down under the water as far she could go (which was deep) and she couldn't find a bottom. My mom lost 2 brothers from drowning so after that we didn't go swimming.

5. I hope to be one day blessed with a child. NO this will not replace our son Dylan who passed way to SIDS. But I believe my husband and I would be amazing parents and deserve a child!

6. We treat our dog Buddy like he was a human. He eats human food, sleeps on the bed with us (hey maybe that's why no children for us - LOL), he goes in the car with us. He is spoiled and knows it.

7. I can't wait for spring and summer for the sun to shine and so that we can take Buddy outside to play frissbee and catch. Can't wait to take Buddy to the park for walks and in the creek for a swim (its not deep so I don't mind). Can't wait to just be outside!!

Now to tag 7 other people. The lucky 7 are

Amy , Elizabeth , Annie, Ellie, icrmum, Vanessa
Kayla (see what dirt I can learn about my sister LOL)

Strawberry Shortcake Page

I made this strawberry shortcake page for a friend, I hope she likes it. I covered the little girl's face and name for privacy reasons. It reminds me of when I was a little girl I dressed up as strawberry shortcake for halloween (I had a different costume) and I won first place at the VFW. I should pull the picture of me out and make a page. LOL!

At first I was going to use pink and red colored cardstock but then I came across this pattern paper in Michaels that was a must have. The Strawberry Shortcake title and Strawberry Shortcake in the Left hand corner are paper piecings. I was looking for Strawberry shortcake embellishments with no luck when I came across a coloring book in the dollar store. The strawberry on the title and right hand side of the page is from Animal Kingdom Cricut Cartridge I cut out the cows head cut off the ears and flipped it over so the features didn't show and drew seeds on it (this wasn't my original idea but I'm sorry I don't recall whose idea it was). The flowers in the corner are flowers are stamped on pink cardstock in Pixie Pink Stampin Up Ink and the flower is from the Stampin Up Friendship Blooms stamp set that was offered during Sale A Bration promotion.

Sundy Scrappin #18

It's the start of a new week and another Sunday Scrappin Post! I love Sunday Scrappin. It's a great group of people who share their Ta Da's (week's goals they completed) and their Ta Do's (goals they want to complete in the coming week).

Can you believe I am sick again?? I have never been sick like this or as much as I have been this winter. This past week I didn't get much done. I still can't share my strawberry shortcake layout with you from last week, my friend had a family emergency in the city and I haven't been able to get the page to her. I do have one Ta Da to share yesterday I suffered through and made easter cards and I placed my first Stampin Up order this past week as a Demo. I can't wait to get my new goodies and I better be feeling better by then.

My To Do's

I'm going to keep it light this week being that I don't feel good. The things I have to do are:

Make my sister's Easter Gift (no Kay I'm not writing what it is)
Finish my Easter cards (thankfully I don't have to make many)
I want to make my new little friend Hunter a candy holder in the shape of a carrot.

This week's bonus question is How long could you keep on crafting without buying new supplies? Oh my! LOL! My husband would say I don't understand why she will ever have to buy another thing again she has so much, she can stock a store. OOkkk I must admit I do have a lot but there is always something that I must have, not saying a necessity but a must have. LOL! If I was to just use my stash I probably could go a good year ok probably more but I would need adhesive I go through it way to fast. And now that I'm a Stampin Up Demo and just recently bought paper in all the color families I should really be set. As I look around the room and I see a 2 paper racks full and another pile of paper waiting for another paper rack to be bought I think I would be set for a long time.

Mr & Mrs. Peter Rabbitt

I haven't done much this week craft wise, I am sick again with another cold. What a winter it has been, can't wait for it to be over with. To add to that I am all out of whack with Easter being early this year. Can't believe a week from tomorrow is Easter. I finally started my cards today, yes that's correct today. I don't have many Easter stamps and the one's I do have I have used on cards in the past and couldn't think of new ideas for them (foggy brain due to the cold). I love the bunny head on the cricut doodlecharms cart so that's what I used. I think on the next set I do I am going to do the boy bunnies nose in brown or black to make him more boyish.
Card Recipe:
Bunny Head - Head is from Cricut doodlecharms cart, the pink ear part is regular pink cardstock the shape is from Cricut George Cart. Eyes are black eyelets. The face is colored in with SU Black Stampin Write Marker, Nose is colored in with SU Pretty in Pink Stampin Write Marker, and the checks are colored in with SU Stampin Pastels.
Mr. Bunny's Clothes: Shirt is SU Green Galore Cardstock. Suspenders are rectangles cut from Cricut George Cartridge. The brads for the supender buttons are non SU brads and the pants and suspenders are SU Tempting Turquoise Cardstock. The carrot on the shirt is clipart from the internet that I cut out on cardstock. The pocket I handcut and is Green Galore Cardstock. Its hard to tell in the picture but I drew lines on the pants to look like sewing with the SU Green Galore Stampin Writer marker. The arms are cut from the George Cartridge using the cylinder shape.
Mrs. Peter Rabbit: The pattern paper and pink cardstock is Not SU they are from my stash --
the flower on her shirt is stamped with SU Pixie Pink Ink and the flower is from the Friendship Blooms Stamp Set from Sale A Bration.

A Card from My new Friend

My friend Hunter (age 6) made me a card. He is the cutest little boy ever! I just recently meet his mom she recently moved here . They moved to NY at the coldest wettest time but they are slowly adjusting. The card he made is adorable, I love these types of things.

Ahoy Matey it's your Bday

I made this card awhile back for a little boy that was celebrating his birthday. Everything on the card with the exception of the coloring and cardstock are Stampin Up (SU).
Stamps used Ahoy Matey and Matey's Map Wheel Stamp. This is an adorable boy stamp set.

Sunday Scrappin #17

I did play with my new Stampin Up Demo Kit and I had fun. Here are the links to the cards I made this past week - A little birdie, Merci Merci Merci , and Blast Off (which is my favorite)

A little Birdie Card

I found a sketch on SCS my original intention was to follow the sketch to a tee before I realized it I changed it a little but I'm pleased with the end result. All products used on this card are Stampin Up. The stamp image is the bird from Fun & Fast Notes Stamp set. Under the bird is a saying that says Thanks...I needed that. But sometimes I stamp the image and only want the image not the saying that goes with it, so I cut the saying out separately and mounted it to the side of the block, so its like 2 stamps in one. It may be hard to see but around the birdie I chalked and then used a blender pen used Green Galore Stampin Pastels to match the green strip.

Card Ingredients:

SU Black Ink , SU Tempting Turquoise Cardstock , SU Green Galore Cardstock ,SU, YoYo Yellow Cardstock ,SU Tempting Truquoise Ribbon ,Image is from Fun & Fast Notes Stamp Set

My challenge for this card was not to color in the images, instead I wanted the cardstock and ink to be the colors on the card. Usually I always want to color things in and make them bright and bold. I love this color combonation! Card Indigents:SU Merci Stamp SetSU Choclate Chip CardstockSU Pink Pixie CardstockSu Pink Pixie Ink

New Blog I found

I was visiting Elizabeth's blog tonight when I saw she had a post about Sheetload's Blog besure to check out their blog they are running a bunch of great contest. A lot of fun stuff going on over there!

Funny Stampin Up Demo Kit Story

As we are all aware my Stampin Up demo kit arrived today. I got home, Jeff and I were going through the box of goodies. He was taking the stuff out of the box and handing it to me. He looks over at me with this strange look and says "and you got this makeupkit". I give him the same strange look back and say "huh, a what". He repeats what he says and he hands me the Stampin Up Pastels. It was funny but so sweet and innocent. Just to let you know I wear no makeup at all because I have extremely sensitive skin. He gave me a good laugh! I can see though where he would have thought it was a makeup kit.

Blast Off Card

As promised, I played with my new Stampin Up (Demo) kit today. I was feeling grouchy and was having a horrible day at work and I really wasn't in the mood to "play" tonight and then the more the box sat there open the more I had to dive in and play. I also have a funny story to post after this post about my demo kit so be sure to check back for that, you all will get a kick out it (it is craft related).

For this card everything with the exception of the 2 brads and the squares where made on the cricut machine using the george cart but besides that everything else is SU products. The paper is from the bold brights collection (Yo Yo Yellow, Tempting Turquoise, and Real Red), and white whisper cardstock. The images are colored in with a blender pen and Stampin Pastels. I must say I am very pleased with this card

PS. You'll see alot more of this rocket ship because I have plenty more card ideas for it! I love it!

It finally arrived!

I am so excited my Stampin Up (SU) Demo Kit arrived today. It felt like forever before it was ever going to make it to me. I had a horrible day at work so I am hoping to go unwind and make something fun and cheery with my new kit. And no the mickey mouse blankie wasn't part of the kit --- that's Buddy's (my dog) other blankie for when he's on the couch. He wasn't to thrilled with me when I put my stuff on it to take a picture. LOL!

There is an awsome deal going on until March 17 with the Demo Kits. The price can not be beat. If your interested in more information or becoming a demo send me an email. You can sign up as a Hobbyist also.

Sunday Scrappin #16 March 2

Good morning! It is Sunday Scrappin Time where I post my Ta Da's (goals I accomplished this week) and my Ta Do's (goals I want accomplish this week). Its a great group over there, very friendly and supportive! Go Check it out, of course after you read my post.

Ta Da's

I accomplished all of my goals from last week with the exception of one. I did not complete or work on a disney layout and I am very frustrated. I have found that a majority of the disney pictures I can print out on my home printer but some of them especially the shows and parades have such vibrate colors that when I print them they come out dark and I know they are not that way because have one set that I had printed professionally through SnapFish for my regular photoalbum. So Okay not a problem the pictures are already saved to Snapfish so I can go there and just order them NO they have been having technical problems all week with there site!!!! I spoke to 2 customer service reps and they are still working on the problem. GRRRRR~

I did finish my Jeff Layout , Cuttlebug Embossed Disney Card, and an Altered Notebook. And I set up my Stampin Up website which I am thrilled about (http://www.christinamerritt.stampinup.net)

My To Do's for this coming week

Hopefully be able to order my pictures through snapfish since I still have a large credit w/them
Do a scrapbook page of Buddy - maybe of his birthday that we celebrated this past week
Play with my Stampin Up Kit that is suppose to be here Tuesday!

*** I am thinking about starting up a small Stampin Up online Club with a few members. Each month you would need to spend X amount of money (same amount each month) and each of you would be able to take a turn being a hostess so you could get the free stamp sets. In return I would share card/page ideas with you, have contest etc. If your interested please contact me and together we can work out the details so everyone is happy - mickey8888@verizon.net

This weeks bonus question is: Do you usually do your crafts alone or with friends? Which do you prefer? I occasionally scrap with my younger sister Kayla and I love it. She is 12 and just getting into the whole scrapbooking/cardmaking thing. I love when she over and I can say hey how does this look instead of asking Jeff who I sometimes feels tells me what I want to hear so that I don't slap him. LOL!

I am a lucky Sister

My little sister who is 17 years younger then me is such a sweetie. Well okay she can be a brat at times but so can all of us. I was checking out her latest blog creations this evening and she had a sweet post on there about me please go check out the Post at Kayla's Blog (direct link to the post).

For everything you do little sis in return I want to give you the You Cheer Me Up Award! You always know how to make me laugh! I love you big bunches Kay Kay!

My New Website

I am so excited to annouce that this evening I created my Stampin Up website. If you have a moment please go check it out at http://christinamerritt.stampinup.net

Embossed Mickey Mouse B-day Card

I love the disney cuttlebug embossing dies/folders. For this card I used the Mickey Celebrates embossing folder. I was so excited that my AcMoore had these in stock so I didn't have to order them online and wait for them to come, I hate waiting I'm so inpatient. But I still need to order a few more of the disney ones online but not many so its okay to wait for those. LOL! I colored the embossed image in with a Q-tip and chalk (hey it works) , I can't wait for my Stampin Up Demo Kit to arrive so I can play with my Pastels and Blender pen --- Fun Fun Fun!!!

Halo 3 Xbox Page

Jeff loves to play XBox Halo 3. He is into his game as I am into blogging and scrapbooking! LOL! Here is a layout that I made today. I have been saying for the last several weeks I want to make this page but haven't gotten to it, but finally I did it!!!! The font on the journaling and title are Halo 3 Font that I downloaded free from the internet - got to love those free font downloads.

Altered Note Pad

I bought a little notepad in Joann's for $1. As soon as I saw the notepad I knew it had to be altered and made it a notepad for all my passwords. Geeze we have passwords for everything and each program or company has a different password format, some what characters with one number some want two numbers its so hard to keep tracked. The image of the computer is from Computer Quips its a Stampin Up Retired set. The letters are alphabet stickers that I received for Christmas. I was thinking about writing or stamping something on the computer monitor but I'm not sure...hmmm
